Was he the one that wrote Childhood's End? I loved that book.

Yes. But I hated that book.

He was the first one to suggest that a satellite at a 22,000 miles up at orbital speed would be 'stationary' in relation to the surface of the earth.

So, just to remind you guys to write down those dreams you have when you have them.

He was one of the best. The best dreamers are called visionaries, and we celebrate their passing.

Yes, the Clarke Belt is where we keep our communications satellites. So the fact that you can watch TV from America and Europe while in the other place in real time is basically Clarke's direct contribution.
